When referring to sexual attitudes, women and men tend to differ in their sexual opinions:
|
Although the sexual double standard is not as common as it used to be, women are still negatively viewed more often than men if they have had many sexual partners. This is due to multiple movies and t.v. shows that portray and enforce these stereotypes. An example of this is the movie The Ugly Truth. This movie portrays the men as a promiscuous person who has multiple sexual partners. And the women as the hopeless romantic who wishes to change the man's way. |

In contrast, sexual behaviors tend not to differ among genders.
- When comparing sexuality in adolescents, women and men who are already engaging in sexual activity tend to report similar frequency of sexual activity.
- Men and women endorse emotional reasons to engage in sexual activity at an equal rate.
- However, men are more likely than women to engage in sexual activity due to physical reasons.
